VOD 06/22/09: Titus 2:2-3

VOD 06/22/09: Age Can Be An Asset

Verse:

Titus 2:2-3
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; (KJV)

Thought:

Whether it’s called growing older or getting experienced, it all boils down to the same thing: with age comes wisdom to those that learn from life’s trials and tribulations. An elder has a lot of accrued knowledge and is anxious to share it with today’s youth. All the younger generation has to do is ask and be willing to learn from others past mistakes in order to keep from taking the same missteps.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Great Teacher, show us how to learn from the errors we make in our lives. Give us every chance to obtain more knowledge, and with that knowledge, wisdom. Allow us the opportunity to share that wisdom with those of less experience and endow them with the patience to accept and put to use the lessons learned.
We lift our prayers up to You, our Lord and our Savior...Amen.

Good morning to one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and positive day and week to come.

May God Bless,
Michael

VOD 06/21/09

VOD 06/21/09: Have A Joyful Father’s Day!

Verse:

Proverbs 31:23
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. (KJV)

Thought:

Once a year, we celebrate fathers. Maybe you are one. If I had it to do all over again, I’d love my wife more in front of my children. I’d laugh with my children more. I’d listen more, even to the youngest child. I’d be more honest about my own weaknesses and stop pretending perfection. I would pray differently for my children. I would be more encouraging and bestow more praise. And finally, I would use every ordinary thing that happened in every ordinary day to point them to God. If there’s going to be music in marriage, the dad has to be the leader of the band.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Abba, on this day that we honor our earthly fathers, let us not forget to give honor to You, also. Every day is Father’s Day when it comes to You. Allow the Holy Spirit to show the father’s here how to raise their children in righteousness and to set a good example of how Your children should behave.
We lift our prayers up to You, our Lord and our Savior…Amen.

Good morning one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and pleasant Father’s Day.

May God Bless,
Michael

VOD 06/20/09 Mark 8:36

VOD 06/20/09: How Is Your IRA?

Verse:

Mark 8:36
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (KJV)

Thought:

Have you spent your whole life preparing for the future and retirement here on earth? That seems to be the mind-set of people today. Get what I can, all I can, so I can relax in comfort and ease during my Golden Years. But what if you were to wake up dead tomorrow? Have you created your spiritual portfolio? All of your earthly and material possessions are meaningless and worthless unless you have also taken the time to build your relationship with God, insuring your retirement in His coming Kingdom.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. O lord, bless us with the Holy Spirit, to reside in us and show us how to come closer to you. Please do not let us become so obsessed with obtaining worldly riches that we forget to also build our heavenly possessions through learning and living as Your Word would have us to do. Be with us and guide us each day so that we may also help others secure their rightful place with You.
We lift our prayers up to You, our Lord and our Savior…Amen.

Good morning one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and pleasant day.

May God Bless,
Michael

VOD 06/19/09 1 Peter 3:12

VOD 06/19/09: Take Care, In Prayer.

Verse:

1 Peter 3:12
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. (KJV)

Thought:

God intervenes in the affairs of men by invitation only. Yes, He knows your needs before you ask, but you’ve got to ask. Why? Because by asking of Him you are acknowledging that He exists and that you trust His judgement in answering your prayers. The answers won’t always be what you want to hear but they will be for your benefit. As long as you go to Him with genuine, earnest sincerity, He will respond. Just be prepared to handle the answer. Choose your desires carefully; put voice to them with even more care.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Dear Lord, when we come to You in prayer, let us do so with humility and sincerity. When we ask of You, let our words not be frivolous but with conviction, asking not for trivial desires but wants of substance. Help us to  recognize Your answers. Open our hearts and minds to the possibilities Your answers provide, and be satisfied to know that they are for our best.
We lift our prayers up to You, our Lord and our Savior…Amen.

Good morning one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and pleasant day and weekend.

May God Bless,
Michael

VOD 06/18/09 Proverbs 23:21

VOD 06/18/09: Are You Hungry?...Thirsty?...

Verse:

Proverbs 23:21
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. (KJV)

Thought:

EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY! The Party Hardy Creed. Know where it came from? Luke 12:19. But read verse 20 as well. Like today’s verse, it speaks of the pitfalls of gluttony, and gluttony can cover a wide variety of things, not just food and drink. When you have an insatiable hunger for material things, you loose your appetite for God’s word. When you thirst for the things of this world, you no longer wish to drink from the fountain of truth and wisdom: the Bible. Do all things, here, in moderation; leaving time for you to prepare, for over there.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. O Lord, let us not overindulge in the things of this world. Allow the Holy Spirit to fill our hunger with Your word and quench our thirst with Your teachings. Show us how to set our priorities straight so that we may live a more balanced life of moderation and fulfillment. Have us set an example to others of the proper conduct expected of one of Your children.
We lift our prayers up to you, our Lord and our Savior…Amen

Good morning one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and positive day.

May God Bless,
Michael

VOD 06/17/09 Proverbs 4:13

VOD 06/17/09: Read The Instructions First…

Verse:

Proverbs 4:13
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life. (KJV)

Thought:

Every appliance, kit, and tool comes with a set of instructions on the proper operational procedures, how to use it efficiently, and how to extend its lifetime. Do you honestly think our Father would have placed us here without an operating manual? It’s called the Bible. In it are instructions from what foods are healthy for us, to how to amicably interact with fellow human beings, right up to how to find comfort, satisfaction, and salvation by having a personal relationship with Him.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day and all of Your blessings. Great Teacher, send Your Holy Spirit to open our hearts, our minds, and our eyes to see and understand what we read when we look to Your compassionate instructions contained in Your words. Show us how to follow Your teachings and become who You meant us to be. Let us show by our actions how others can come to know the confidence of being one of Your children, and how to live a rich and fulfilling life.
We lift our prayers up to You, our Lord and our Savior…Amen.

Good morning one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and positive day.

May God Bless,
Michael

VOD 06/16/09 Matthew 23:12

VOD 06/16/09: I Have a Question…

Verse:

Matthew 23:12
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. (KJV)

Thought:

Who do you respect more: a braggart that boasts a lot but produces little, or a quiet, humble man that gets the job done? Which one would you promote if they worked for you? If both gave different answers to a question, which one would you be more inclined to believe? Why talk the talk when it is so much more impressive to simply walk the walk? Which one are you?

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day and all of Your blessings. O God, let us persevere in our assigned tasks and accomplish them with dignity and humility. Keep us humble as to our abilities, knowing that all we are is because of who You have made us. Never allow us to think that we don’t need You or Your instruction in our lives. If we are praised by others, may we always remember to redirect that praise to the One responsible.
We lift our prayers up to You, our Lord and our Savior…Amen.

Good morning one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and positive day.

May God Bless,
Michael
